At Casteel Heating and Cooling, we pride ourselves in providing world class service, high quality products, affordable prices and exceptional warranties. But instead of hearing it from us, take a look at what some our customers are saying on Kudzu this month!

“I purchased a new hvac. I was totally pleased with the expertise and professionalism of my sales rep. He took the time to answer my questions about the hvac sold by Casteel and by its competitors. He was credible and won the sale while not speaking disrespectfully about other offerings. On installation day, the crew (Larry and Kevin) did an excellent job installing the unit and working as efficiently as possible. This was my first experience working with Casteel – I trust that they will have a valued customer for life.”
“I’ve used Casteel for 6 mths now and have been very pleased. They did maintenance in summer and winter. Brian was our technician and took the time to explain what he was doing and why. He answered my questions and was not rushed to simply check the box and move on. I will continue to ask for him! Good work!”
“We have been using the services of Casteel for a couple of years now and we have always had great service with them. Their technicians are always professional, especially Brian Williams. We will continue to use them for all of our heating and cooling needs.”
“Great service and customer support. I have used Casteel Heating and Cooling now for about 3 years..Can’t say enough about the service and support. They are number 1 as far as I am concerned!!!”
“Prompt and professional service. I like that they came when they said they are going to come — respectful of my time. Brian Williams was a great technician!”

We want to thank all of our customers for your support! Casteel Heating and Cooling would not be a success without all of you. Thanks for choosing us when it comes to your heating and air conditioning needs.

It’s important to have maintenance done on your HVAC system twice a year. Most people clean their system during the spring and before winter.  Cleaning your system during the spring is the best time to have your HVAC contractor conduct a pre-summer inspection of your system.  The summer months get hot and humid, so it’s important to have your system inspected to ensure it’s working properly.

Listed below are summer HVAC maintenance tips from Kudzu.com:

    • Check thermostat and furnace system controls. This insures that the starting cycle is working properly so you stay comfortable and save energy.
    • Make sure the electrical connections are tightened and lubricate all HVAC moving parts. Loose electrical connections and lack of adequate lubrication reduces the life of the unit components leading to increased energy use.
    • Make sure the condensate drain is working properly. A plugged drain or pipe can cause water damage, and affect the humidity levels in your home.
    • Clean the evaporator and air conditioning coils. Dirty coils can higher your energy bills leading you to spend more money.
    • Check the air conditioner refrigerant level. The wrong level of refrigerant can affect your system efficiency and increase your costs.
    • Make sure the blower components are properly adjusted. Improper blower components can reduce efficiency up to 15 percent.
    • Change air filters regularly to ensure system efficiency.

Do you know what an HVAC contractor should test for when installing new high efficiency equipment? Before investing in a new high efficiency heating and cooling system, you need to make sure you select a contractor that installs equipment based on facts, testing, and science. Unfortunately, many HVAC contractors offer advice on new high efficiency heating and cooling systems based on opinions and guesses. When selecting an HVAC contractor, make sure the contractor meets the minimum criteria listed below:

    • Computerized “Manuel J” Load Calculation – This is a room by room scientific test that will determine the right size equipment for your home.
    • Room by Room Airflow Calculation – This is a scientific measurement of the amount of air coming out of the air vent in each room. This will ensure your new system heats and cools your home evenly.
    • Air Duct Leakage Calculation – The typical duct system in a home leaks 25-40%. The air duct leakage test identifies where the leaks are located so repairs can be made.
    • Air Flow Leakage Reduction Guarantee – Get a written guarantee that the duct system will leak less than 10%, or that they will guarantee 75% less air leakage once the new system is installed.
    • Infiltrometer Blower Door Test – This is a scientific test that measures the level of air leakage in the entire home. Understanding this will help solve high utility bills, unhealthy indoor air, musty odors, excessive dust, humidity issues and hot and cold spots throughout the home.

We conduct extensive research and testing before recommending you the best HVAC unit that fits your needs.  Call us today at 770-565-5884 or contact us online to schedule an appointment today!

Comes Through When You Really Need Them…

It was around 9am on the Sunday morning before the big snow/ice storm was to hit and getting out of bed my wife and I immediately realized our house was cold really cold. We have a small child so this was not a good thing. We called Casteel at 9:30am. They informed us on the phone it could possibly be much later that evening before they could make it out to our home because they had many calls already. The Casteel technician, Robert Gross, showed up BEFORE NOON and our house began heating up shortly thereafter. The service from Casteel and Robert was prompt, courteous, competent and professional; what more do I need to say. I recommend them highly without reservation.

    And here’s another satisfied customer…

    Exceptional Company!

I never thought I would be excited about a heating and air unit. From the moment Bob evaluated my needs to the exceptional service from the technicians, John and Tim, I was delighted with their professionalism. I never felt pressured but always felt as though they cared about me, the customer. I compared several other companies and I am so glad the I selected Casteel. As you can tell, I highly recommend Casteel!

Are you paying more than you should to heat and cool your home?  Surprisingly, many people are!  It’s easy to pay for an HVAC system that is too large or too small for your home, but you can save money by properly managing your home energy.  It’s important to find a system that best fits your home’s needs by doing some simple research before making your purchase.  Trane offers high-performing equipment that can help your home be more energy efficient year round.

Trane offers many high-performing and high-quality HVAC systems for homes, including high-efficiency products that can reduce your utility bills and energy costs.  These high-efficiency products can also benefit the environment.  According to Alliance to Save Energy, the average household this year will pay $2,300 this year on energy costs.  Some recommended Energy Star qualified systems to help with your energy management include the Trane XC95 and the Trane XL20i.  The Trane XC95 is one of the market’s most efficient gas furnaces and can save you up to 40 percent on home energy consumption.  The Trane XL20i is one of the highest energy efficient air conditioners on the market today and can save you up to 60 percent of your annual energy bill if it’s replacing a system 10 years or older.  Programmable thermostats, such as the Trane XL800, can also provide you annual savings with accurate temperature control.  Programmable thermostats often have an annual savings of around $100 and usually pay for themselves in two years or less. Performing preventative maintenance before the summer and winter will also help improve energy efficiency and save you money.

In addition, it’s important to make sure your HVAC system is properly installed so you’re getting the most efficiency from your system.  Energy efficiency can be impacted due to mismatched coils, improper air flow, and leaking ducts.  70 percent of HVAC systems don’t have the correct air flow and nearly 74 percent have an improper amount of refrigerant resulting in higher energy costs.  Trane products are designed to achieve maximum efficiency, reliability and comfort if properly installed.
